Development of a Graphical User Interface Platform for Sizing a Stand-Alone Hybrid PV Wind System and Grid Connected PV System for Teaching and Learning During MCO

To prevent COVID-19, most of the countries around the world have implemented lockdown where people are forced to stay at home. This will cause the rise in household electricity demand. The rise in electricity demand will affect the stability of the power system and can cause blackout. Other than that, the lockdown itself also may affect to blackout due to potential shortage in engineers and workers in the energy sector. The conventional way to obtain power during blackout is by using individual diesel generator. However, diesel generator uses fuel and release gasses that can contribute to air pollution. The cleaner way to generate electricity is by using renewable energy (PV/wind). The problem is not everyone has the knowledge to determine the size of the PV system. Hence, this product is called Graphical User Interface Platform for Sizing a Stand-Alone Hybrid PV Wind System and Grid Connected PV System. The GUI can determine the suitable number of PV panels/wind turbine size as well as sizing grid connected PV system. The GUI is easy to use and understand so that is suitable for teaching and learning purposes during the MCO.
